When i am happy or sad, i find myself singing.

Somehow when i sing, my heart seems to be at peace.

Whether you like it or not, singing brings the emotions out of you. It makes you smile, causes you cry, brings light into darkness. It doesn't matter if you croak, sing out of rhythm or even tone deaf, 你开心就好.

Guess this is one of the best gifts that He has given to mankind, that's why music is such a powerful weapon across generations and cultures.

Sing sing sing and make music to the heavens, 来高声唱吧!

BACK ON EARTH

Haha you may wonder what happened to me for the past one month.

Totally no blogs.

Today, daniel said "wah i have been going into your blog leh, but no update. what's going on ah?" THAT reminded me "elaine chua, better get back to blog!"

SO HERE I AM, BACK ON EARTH, BACK TO ACTION.

From the start of this month, i went back to read Genesis again.

It is so nice and assuring and warming to remind myself that I AM HIS CREATION MADE IN HIS IMAGE. Even when Adam and Eve sinned, God took the initiative of asking them "where are you?"

Because He is God, He knew what had happened.

Because He is God, He came and looked for His creatures.

Because He is God, He set the rainbow as the sign of His love and covenant for His descendants. HE NEVER FLOODED THE EARTH.

Wow, so amazing that my God would come and love me so much.

Likewise, His love extends to all, no preference no favoritism.

God loves you for who you are.

He remembers what you had done (including the wrongs), but

He rewards what you had done for Him.

Remember the RAINBOW :D

Late Night

Writing blog at this late hour is rare..

In fact, still wide awake at this hour is even more rare..

The fact is the drowsiness caused by the medication had resulted me to sleep very early like 1030-11pm, so to be still here at this hour is indeed strange.

Guess sleeping at late hours is something that i had not done for long time. When i said late, i mean like after 3am. Doubt i can dong compared to those younger days, where didn't catch a wink till the next day was not an issue. Haha..age does play a part but more so in terms of no life and energy the next day when going to work. I remembered that for couple of weeks, i slept like 4am and woke up at 630am to work (haha don't ask me why i slept so late, obviously got reasons). Then whole day in office like a zombie and dead corpse. This is really no good when health was affected. That's explained why nowadays lesser late nights*.

* heard that sleeping late also causes deterioration of your skin e.g. popping of more pimples, deep black circles round the eyes etc*

Moral of this blog: SLEEP EARLY!!

Then what am i doing here? Ok, i am off to bed! Night world :D

Stronger

It is written "Christ is risen!"

Jesus you are Lord of all.

Truly that is the awesome and powerful song that redirected the focus and worship back to God at last Sunday service. His presence is so strong that all of us rendered the glory to Him. It has been the sweetest and wonderful moments that we sang "in moments like this, i sing out a song. I sing out a love song to Jesus." It is an out-of-norm moment, where at our least expectation, God came down! That is what worship supposed to be...no human expectation, no human manipulation, just purely desire and longing to worship Him. I thank God for that special moment.

As i walked out from the hall, i felt stronger.

Because it is written "Christ is risen!"

With Christ, i will rise above the hurdle :)

Loads

Have i lost interest in blogging?
Somehow, no inspiration and mood to write stuff though i have loads of thoughts in my that tiny brain. Oh no!
Ok will attempt to write something now..
Recently, loads of things happened.
Probably that was the cause of my frequent headache, to the point that doc has sent me for brain scan in due time.
Talking about trusting God, this is the best moment.
Telling others to trust God, this is the best test.
I will trust in You Lord!

Asking loads of wisdom in dealing life issues.
Asking loads of guide in seeing life direction.
Tons and tons of prayers required, but i know God is never too tired to listen and hear us. Just amazed by His patience towards us when we can be irritating, unreasonable and demanding at times. *many times self-centred and selfish*
Lord thank you for being patient.

A brand new day in the month of Aug..

And my brand new day was "greeted" by a visiting guest: MR 小强. It decided to pass by at the wee hours, at where i slept and alerted the sleeping worm up from her beauty sleep. Irritated by its visitation, i decided to exhibit my courage to kill it *i am still freaked out by it*. With the baygon in my hand, i chased after it, drew it out from its hiding place and sprayed the creature to its doom. I felt so proud of my achievement that i smashed it again with tissue paper. Haha you may think that i am "cruel", but wait till it came at that wrong hour and woke you up :D

Enough of 小强!

I spent the entire day breakfasting with the most cool pastor in town (i met a long-time-no-see friend at ikea!), followed by sending the team off to India at T2.

Felt so good to spend time with my goddaughter chloe, together with 2 other cooler persons in hougang town :)

Praise God for durians that i actually twice within a short span of 4 hours. Wah the price really made a huge difference in its quality and i must say 真的是一分钱一分货! The day ended beautifully when my bro and SIL came over for dinner with the family *Lord, protect my little niece and jo*

Haha blur me! I forgot to purchase home season parking for this month, so now i have to park somewhere further from my place. Haiz, take it as an exercise 吧!

It is numbers to tell you what i did on a saturday.

9-3pm rounded up the final session of CCLT.

3-9pm spent time with pris, eunice, gab, chloe and gaius.

The timing literally rhythm.

12 hours out, guess at the end of the day, i was tired.

My friends, not so sure how this week has been for you, but i am sure God's grace is sufficient to see you through!

It has been a tiring week.

Not so much of physique, but somehow i just felt so tired.

Nevertheless, God is still God. He is still as who He is.

Always protects, always strengthens, always guides.

That's why i TGIF because He protects, strengthens and guides me through this week. If God can do that for me, i am sure He can do that for you.

Stayed home with my dad..

Read notes on Romans and pretty satisfied with the progress.

Oops, i forgot to brush up my sermon for wed staff devotion.

Nvm, still got tomorrow night to do so. Thank God for Tues :D

Oh after so long, i went out suppering with awesome people like dan+jaime and aaron+grace+claudia. It was great to fellowship with them and yet "torturing" to discipline my mouth not to eat supper. But well, it was good to end my Mon!

How Is My Week?

3 words to summarise:

TIRING: physically tired, still recovering from the flu. Literally slept early every night at 11pm and woke up at 430am (for some who do not know, 11pm is considered pretty early for me as my usual sleeping hour is 12.30pm).
HARDWORKING: spending hours reading materials on Romans, to prepare for my coming teaching trip to Philippines on 31 jul. Wow it has been awhile since i last spent time reading and reading.
RELAXING: this was only applicable from fri night to sat, where i really relaxed talking to people, laughing over jokes and spending time with my godchildren.

Well, not a bad week.

Hopefully the coming week will be exciting and challenging!

The joy of the Lord is my strength :D

4th day of 2nd half of 2011..what have i done?
4th Feb, a special day where i started the early wee hours with the Lord and i am still amazed at how on earth i could do that. Truly like what the scripture says "not by might, not by power but by the Spirit of the Lord." It is surely not my flesh, but the Spirit of the living God that enables me to spend the qualitative time with Him. Today marks the 5th month anniversary (haha sounds like 7th month).
My heartfelt thanks to God in speaking into me, correcting my wrongs and making things right.

As i consider the wonders and beauty of His creation by hearing the chisping of the birds and the brightening of the skies, i gave thanks!
O Lord, my Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth :D

Lost but Found

I was with my member over lunch at ikea.

While engaging in the conversation, i placed my hp pouch on the chair instead of putting it directly into my bag. After that, i went for my second cup of coffee and decided to change seat. When i was about to leave, i don't know why but opened my bag to check if the pouch was there. Lo and behold, i realised it was gone.

I walked back to the former seat, but couldn't find anything. While toggling the intention to leave or to ask the cleaner, i prayed.

I approached this elderly cleaner and asked if he has seen the pouch.

My heart leaped when he took it out from a box.

The reason why i wanted to get it back because of 2 polaroid pictures, which are more precious than the pouch. I am thankful it was lost but now found.

It reminded me of my salvation.

I once was lost but now am found :)))

My Weekend

Saturday 040611

Attended the second part of the SP training.

Haha it was quite funny to sit with uncle jack and auntie doris, whose loving affection to each other impressed me. Uncle jack would tease auntie doris and she just said her magic phase "JACK!" No wonder, reuben also likes to tease her as she is so easily tickled and "bullied". Thank God for their love and dedication, showing us that with God in the centre of their marriage, things are just different.

Good to see justin, jake, reuben and the kids waiting for me to end training. Accompanied jake to get his army stuff then headed to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. It is nice to take pics of remembrance here as the station will be demolished by end of June. I think i only took the train once from this station to Msia and now it would be gone into history.

Sunday 050611

Preached for the very first time at the combined service.

Mixed feelings, just have to rely on the HS.

Thank God for the peace and i pray the Word has reminded many to go back to the basics by loving God and loving people.

Loving God by meeting Him in their quiet time.

Loving people by doing care acts for them.

Kungfu Panda 2

Heard quite good comments on this movie.

When i watched KP 1, it was on the plane though can't remember where i was heading to. Haha i literally laughed out loud by the comical and cute panda in learning kungfu from the shi fu. Super super funny!

Planned to date auntie doris and gabriel to watch it on this coming monday, then gab has a school camp so i suppose it's a relaxing time with auntie doris. I shall date her tomorrow to go NEX and watch it.

It's gotta be good and funny :)))

In Mar, attended the 7-steps conference.
In Apr and May, busy with ministry duties.

However, i have five fruitful months of building relationships.
Thank God for beautiful people in my life.

Cough is Back

Yes my cough is back!
Since monday, i have been coughing non-stop till the lungs almost came out. i was thinking maybe i would fee the pain at the throat, but there wasn't. Or maybe it's just the night cough. Whatever! As long as it wouldn't get worse as i would have problem sleeping.
Ok no spicy food for next few days.
More water please.

RSAF Open House

Today was the first time stepping into RSAF open house.

All along wanted to go, but the trip never seems to materialise, so pretty excited that i finally got to see those beautiful planes and choppers. What's more i went with my godchildren and reuben. It has been a long while since the kids last went out with him, and they must have missed him much and surely happy to go out with their gor gor reuben.

The weather was terribly hot, but thank God that we were able to watch the live performances from the second level of the VIP building. Better view, lesser crowd and cooler spot. Wow, really impressed by the fighter planes, how they twirled and flew across the blue skies demonstrating their beauty and grandeur. Nice!

After the carnival fair, the kids cannot take the hot weather anymore. Haha you started to see their dragged feet and grumbling voices, so i disturbed the 2 boys "how can you go army like that?" they like bo hew and continued to rumble on. We decided to leave but almost fainted when we saw the crowd at the bus stop. After 30 mins of waiting, we squeezed up the super packed bus 90 and headed to Trinity for the car. Haha simply cannot decide where to go till reuben has to resort to take the majority votes by numbering the few options. Landed ourselves at suntec food court for dinner before meeting aaron and grace to conclude the night.

Actually i realise if you don't queue to look and experience the inner functions of the planes and choppers, you simply take pics and watch the live performance. Seriously, i will try and ask for tickets to go for next year's open house before it is open to the public, so that i can enjoy it fully.

Haha but i still love planes :D

Lord, please give us cooler weather in days ahead (:

Quiet Week

Nothing much happened this week.

Everything seems so quiet and peaceful.

In the midst of quietness, i finished my portion of sermon, which is a "whew" as it is tougher to prepare portion than the whole thing. But at least that is settled for next Tues trial preaching.

I think i shall visit my granny next Mon, since i have not seen her for quite awhile. Also need to visit a few members since previous visitations. Guess next week will be slightly busier, but i like it!

Reported at the agency promptly but didn't get to move off till 815am. What is this? then we shouldn't rush like mad mah. Anyway thank God the coach is not too bad. Crossed the second link smoothly and made 2 brief stops along the way.

Reached KL around 230pm. Checked into the Federal which is conveniently located near to Berjaya Times Square. Accessible shopping and makan places.

Headed straight to BTS and walked around for 3 hours with little harvest (me kosong). Then literally spent an hour at crepes cream to eat donuts and what's else-WIFI! Had our not that fantastic zi cha dinner.

Went back to the hotel to nua and MD before heading out again to Starbucks for what's else WIFI. Haha the power of technology made us hook there for almost 2 hours with army of cockroaches around us. They really freaked me out, then reuben and jake kept brushing my legs to scare me. Haha they are so bad but i still love them :D

Ok had our dim sum breakfast, then headed to KLCC. Hide and seek with unis, finding each other at different Starbucks. That's right! It's Starbucks again! And that means WIFI again!! haha we are simply amazing la, but we also quite supportive by buying their coffees and tumblers.

Ok chiong to Chinatown!

Wah i nearly die of heart attack when reuben led us cross that road with buzzing cars. Seriously i was freaked out and worst of all when unis was left behind and took her awhile to cross over. No more!! I will cross the bridge :D

Haha the harvest was not bad - 1 bottle of cool water with reuben slashing the price like siao. We officially appointed him as the "杀价高手". He is really the master and we salute him :) Ate our yummy zi cha dinner there before continuing our shopping near to the hotel area.

This time, i got another 2 pair of shoes. Finally spent some money and broke the record of unis (brought the least stuff).

Last day at KL. Time just passed by too quickly.

As usual, breakfast at the western style cafe with better food.

Spent some time talking and sharing with each other.

I seriously enjoyed such times.

Though i don't know when we will have such opportunity again as reuben leaving for oversea studies and jake for army enlistment, i treasure these moments. Thanks guys!

Checked out, then final shopping at BTS.

Brought another pair of shoes, but unis beat me as she brought make up stuff.

So can i declare that I AM THE LEAST SPENDER?

Then who is the NO 1 SPENDER? haha make your guess :D

Bottle Tree Park

Explored a new leisure place for adults and children called "Bottle Tree Park" located between katib and yishun. Quite a nice and scenaric place for the kids to fish and adults to prawn.Haha as usual, my 3 lovely godchildren can't wait to jump into the water to reap their first fish harvest. Guess it's a new activity for them that they didn't get any for the first 15 mins. Finally, they caught one followed by many dead fishes.

Nice to see them enjoying and telling us that "catch dead fish ah, nevermind lah, we enjoy can oredi".

True! Most impt is the enjoyable time together under that going to rain anytime weather. I really enjoyed the time with the low family and thank God for the friendship :D

SS=Saturday and Sunday

My work shift due to the trip to KL on the original work schedule.
Liked to be in the office as it was quiet and have own private moments.
Managed to work thru 0506 service plan with mark and worked on the sermon that we will be co-preaching.
Wow the sky was pretty dark and soon the heavy downpour, which made me wanna sleep. Haha so caught some winks here and there esp the environment was cosy and quiet.
After work, went over to see my cuties and played MD with them.
Then met unis for dinner and my share was bobo cha cha, as stomach was still full. But later around 1030pm i was hungry, so ate a bun :)
Thank you Jesus for a beautiful saturday.

Met one long time never come church member and ministered to her. Somehow, she overexerted her back so got to send her to the doctor before it gets worse. Thank God for placing me in the gap of ministry.
Fetched my nieces to church, who looked forward to play with the low kids.
Attended the missions sunday service, which was pretty interesting with the powerful worship, the skype session with mag and serene as well as the anointed message by rev irvin rutherford.
Finally, concluded the day with badminton.
Thank you Jesus for a beautiful sunday.

Forever Grateful

Wow the time passes super duper fast. Today it's Friday oredi!
As i recalled and reflected what had happened within these 5 days, i am thankful.

Thankful because of:
1. My salvation.

2. The breath of life He gives to me everyday.

3. His strength to pull me through the whole week of ministry.

4. His creativity and wisdom to guide me in the planning and execution of 0506.

5. A cordial and warm family aka parents and brothers.

6. The wonderful and cooperative colleagues, who encourage and support me.

7. The great leaders and lovely members whom i serve together within the region.

8. The supportive friends who warmly surround me.

9. The miracle of speedy recovery of bro andy lee's father-in-law, who is in critical condition but within a span of 4 days, God delivered him out of the ICU and now his condition is stable.
My God is indeed awesome!

10.The soon arrival of my very first niece who will bear my family name.

How can i not be thankful with so many beautiful testimonies in a week?
How can i not be grateful for the bountiful blessings and love from God?
I am indeed forever grateful!

This is the no. 506 blogs i had written since 2008!

Never thought i could sustain it so far and persisted in writing till now. As i scrolled back to the older posts, there are those that brought back memories while others led to the thankfulness of God's goodness.

I thank God for the power of blogging, as it helped to captivate thoughts, feelings and gratitudes. Haha somehow you cannot deny that our memory does fail (mine fail super bad at times), so i guess it will be part of my life as of now.

Recently, someone asked me "where do i get the energy from, esp when i am with my godchildren and nieces?"

It set me thinking!

The only answer is "the joy of the Lord is my strength!"

Keeping myself lighthearted and happy somehow give me energy to be with the kids. Their company and childlikeness make the world look better. At least, they make mine :D

I truly thank God for my godchildren and nieces.

I pray my two nieces will come to know Jesus and in time serve together with my godchildren in the church. Who knows, they might be pastors, teachers, prophets, evangelists or apostles in the latter days!

Lord, raise up the children to be the mighty men and women in Your kingdom :D

Hottest Fight

5 years 1 election.

This is one of the hottest fight between the ruling party and the oppositions. In fact, it is also one of the hottest topics that occupy over meals and conversations. The ruling party faces the toughest fight where 82 seats will be contested.

This time, my area came out from Aljunied GRC to join into AMK GRC.

So the fight is not as hot as if we are still under Aljunied.

But well, the fact is people are interested to hear what is offered and promised. The overwhelming and crowded responses at the rallies show that Singaporeans are more interested and participative in their futures. They no longer vote blindly but intelligently. Therefore it will be interesting to know the ultimate results in terms of the no of seats that will be taken by the oppositions.

"Forced"

Hate the feeling of being "forced" to do something that you don't even want or enjoy to do, and i just felt that way today :/

The feeling is terrible, a surge of anger and frustration.

Then affects relationship with another and own self.

But i make sure i do not carry this over to Wed, as i hate that kind of feeling lingering over days ahead. I want an enjoyable week, so i shall not carry across a day!

Always believe to get people to do what they are passionate and happy to do, instead of thinking that since they can might as well tap on them when they don't even enjoy at all. The "can" is not equal to "will", so i can do it does not mean i will do it.

Respect others and others respect you, so don't "force" others to do things that they don't enjoy or struggle to carry it out. Some say yes, but deep within is a BIG NO! Make sure you talk it out and get to discover what a person likes and struggles.

JB Once Again

Don't ask me how many times i have gone to JB. It's really uncountable. Imagine my familiarity is such i can even know where to avoid the road holes, that is how familiar i am with that few places that we had been going (city square, holiday inn and auntie's seafood stall). Haha i think i should be awarded as "FREQUENT JB VISITOR".

This time, i went with my mentee regina.

We wanted to spend time with each other before she starts school next week. It was pretty relaxing as we went to buy lenses, do pedicure, get local products, wash my car and finally eat seafood. We ordered our usual favorites: black noodles, hotplate tofu and pork ribs. Cheap and good! Wow, now the rate is pretty good - 2.39! If you intend to change to ringgit, good time to do it now :)

Oh i thank God for granting me favor.

When i drove out from the car park of holiday inn plaza, as i needed to watch out for cars at both directions, i decided to put on my seat belt once the car was safely on the road. Guess what, i was stopped by 3 traffic police. Somehow my heart was at peace and prepared to get fined for not putting on the seat belt. I explained my intention to them and they took down my particulars. Then they issued me a warning without any fine. I am thankful not because i didn't get the fine, but because i felt the peace to face the consequence.

God's Protection

Thank God for protecting his children.

Went out dinner with the Low's and Goh's after the wake, heading towards J8. I was at this traffic junction to turn left. Careless me, did not check the car in front first but tilted my head towards the right coming cars. Before i realise it, i heard a loud cry from mrs low "ELAINE!" Obviously, if not for the quick alert to jam brake, i would have kissed the back side of the front car that did not actually move off. Wow thank God for his protection and alert. If not, we might be injured and my pocket would have a big hole. I was thankful to be reminded once again that it does not mean i have been driving for years mean i am good at it and no prone to accidents. Lord, thank you!

Had a good time of fellowship and dinner with wonderful friends and the two little angels: Thaddeus and Claudia :D

A Different Good Friday

He could have chosen to call down angels or exercise His divine powers, BUT HE DID NOT!

Monday Slack

Thank God for Mondays.

Many will have monday blues, but i like mondays because IT'S MY OFF DAY AND MY SLACK DAY. No exception today! Going to slack at home..nuaing+watching dvd+reading!

Oh last night, my godson stayed over at my place after badminton. He is such an obedient boy because when i told him to sleep by 1030, he said "Godma, my mummy said i must sleep by 10 on sundays as next day got to go school." He really disciplined himself and slept by 10. So proud of him :D

Btw, he told me he likes to play badminton and i think we found another potential player. He just needs to practise more!

Another Weekend

Another weekend has just passed!

And i blogged nothing the whole week..

Not because nothing happened, but too much..

Today preached at English service 1 on "THE CROSS".

Throughout the week was an overwhelming experience in terms of tearing in my heart at how much, how brutal the crucifixion had done to my Lord. We had sung songs "Thank you for the cross, the mighty cross", "thank you for the cross Lord, thank you for the price you paid" etc. These songs remind us of the price, the sacrifice and the love that He had accomplished on the cross. Yet we need to look at the cross in totality in terms of its torture, humiliation and spectacle.

I knew when the Holy Spirit impressed me to preach on the cross, it would bring me to another level of intimacy with Him.

I thank God for the ideas, pointers and creativity in presenting this challenging message as i desire to see hearts returning to God and re-looking the cross in deeper perspectives. The concluding prayer was definitely inspired by the Holy Spirit, i am just the mouthpiece.

This week was definitely a good one.

I am so blessed and inspired :D

Good Weekend

I had a good time over the weekend.

Mainly because i could spend time with reuben and my godchildren on saturday (except gab as the parents brought him out to celebrate his special day). We were at ikea the whole afternoon, waiting for the kids to finish their 1 hour of playground and rounding it off with some episode of gaius. Seriously, i need to spend time praying for this little boy, who had gone through unique experience compared to other kids. His personality and temperament are my immediate prayer needs.

Then we headed to changi airport and had so much fun with the kids riding on the trolley as well as hopping from one terminal to the other. Haha i must say reuben knows how to entertain them :D

Next comes sunday.

A super packed sunday. Being service pastor from English service 1 to English service 2 is no joke. Draining but strength came when i depended on the Lord. Badminton rounded up the whole day, but somehow i wasn't really into the game. Probably energy level had dropped to zero or probably the mood thingy.

Whatever it may be, i still had a good weekend.

Thank God for His presence :D

Today i just felt weird physically, from morning till evening.

I am not myself. Felt so tired, so drained..

If give me a bed on the spot, i would fall flat on it like the advert of the mattress. Seems like going to work with zero body energy. Dragged my feet, took big strength to lift up my hands and then pushed my whole body to meet people.

Am i falling sick? Nah, i reject that.

I simply need to get home asap, shower and sleep.

Went to JB today with 2 aunties grace and serene.

Guess what?

I LITERALLY SPENT $200+ IN THIS TRIP!!

Unbelievable right? I also find it absolutely UNBELIEVABLE.

Let me list out my spendings:

$50 for car polishing, top up another $42 for 10x free car wash and vaccuming
$32 for pedicure (and i don't really like it :/)
$45 for medication
$10 for dinner
$18 for petrol and $5 for coupons
$6 for stationery

Total: $208

I nearly fainted that i spent so much within that few hours.

Cost me a bomb but then..

We had fun together, so it's worthwhile.

I think i can call myself a JB kid :D

10 days since i last blogged. Quite a few things happened.

Done a few home visitations ~ so glad to minister to a few families and prayed for them.

Met with a few people ~ so good to build some new friendships and will continue to estb those links.

Pretty fulfilling week!

Then came fri 010411, not april fool's day but church corporate prayer meeting. I was actually looking forward to it, as i felt within that God's spirit is going to move among His people. Somehow i sense the breakthrough in the prayer atmosphere and i am ready to do my designated part. True enough, God's presence was there. When i took over the mic, i sensed the sensational feeling. I felt the anointing and led the people into a faith declaration in unison. My lips were like coal, proclaiming and challenging the people to exercise the faith, since we are God's royal priesthood, chosen people and a people belonging to Him. His presence is awesome :D

Next came sat, went to henderson waves with reuben, justin and the 3 kids. The weather was super duper hot that we were all perspiring like siao. Seriously HOT yet FUN, what a paradox! anyhow, umbrella and water were the ultimate items to keep us going till we reached vivo city. We decided not to eat our dinner as the hot weather had caused us appetiteless temporarily. So brought the kids to toys r us then did some stupid things with the kids..haha so funny!

My greatest gain this week is

"I am blessed by His presence and i know his anointing is upon me!"

Reunion

It is good to reunite with ps nelson after 5 years since his last trip here in 2007. He has been so hospitable and took great care of us whenever we go over there. Now it is our turn to bless the faithful servant of God. A whole series of feasting sessions awaiting him, making sure his stomach is well taken care of. From hawker centre to restaurant to coffee shop, including the meals at the conference, i am not sure if he has gained much weight. hahahha! but well, since came all the way here, it's alright to gain slightly but not too much.

I truly thank God for ps nelson and his family, whom we have built years of friendship and bond since 1990s. I have many good friends in Iloilo, but this family has showed me the fruits of labour and faithfulness in serving the KIng of kings and Lord of lords. It doesn't matter how sufficient you are and how talented you are, it's the heart of devotion and assured hope that God is the only one you will follow all the days of your life. This is the spirit of the Nelson family. I will continue to pray for your family that He will reward you, who earnestly seek Him.

Praying for Japan

Japan had gone through many earthquakes, but the one on 11/3 hit them hard. It was a black fri, where tsunami came sweeping aways houses, cars, ships and worst of all PEOPLE! Many went missing till today, bodies uncovered everyday, hopes dashed as heartbroken people waited for the news of the survival of their missing loved ones. Somehow, devastation, hopelessness and fear gripped many. Yet the Japanese faces and handles this disaster orderly and calmly. Part of their lifeskills is to know how to react and respond towards natural calamities. Something that is lacking in us.

I have been praying for this nation since the calamity strikes.
I am thrilled when i heard the miracle of survival of the grandma and grandson, after the 9th day (which is almost impossible for any survival under the rubbles and cold weather). Praise God for the miracle!
Let's continue to pray believing that God's sovereign purpose of salvation in this nation shall increase and reign. Let more hearts be channeled to seek for truth, as truth shall set them free.
It can be done! It shall be done!
Let's believe!

Walkathon at Marina Bay Waterfront!

Good weather, beautiful sea view and significant landmarks around the bay not forgetting the yellows that brighten up the whole place.

Started the walk around 820am.

Carried the little angel claudia in my arms.

Both of us took that brisk walk leaving the other lows behind.

Just me and her, so nice.

From the big curious eyes till the sleeping soundly posture in my arms, i enjoy the time spent with her in this way. She even smiled in her dream.

She opened her big curious eyes again, when we reached the destination at 920am. She simply knew the right timing.

So cute :D

Unbelief Doubt Faith

Faith says "I know it will happen!"

When Jesus asked Peter to come to him on the boat, Peter can choose to disbelieve, doubt or have faith to walk on water.

Unbelief will keep both feet in the boat.

Doubt will put one foot in the boat and the other out of it.

faith will let both feet out of the boat.

We can experience unbelief, doubt and faith in our spiritual journey.

For unbelief and doubt, they are the subtle and destructive weapons used by the devil.

For faith, it is one of the weapons that we can use to overcome unbelief and doubt. So if you are wise, you will know what to choose to have and what to overcome.

Dead Tired

I was really dead tired yesterday.

From as early as 830am of the english service 1 service pastor till the 2pm of the combined service interpreting were enough to wear me out.

To add on to my fatigue, i continued to interpret for the 1st half of the leaders meeting, which was surely challenging and brain draining.

I was at my ultimate tiredness, yet i have to drag myself to attend a wedding banquet. Thank God for helpers that saved me from running around coordinating it. If not, i would have waved a white flag even before it started. But i was like a dead corpse during the dinner, so kept eating and playing with claudia to keep myself alert.

Seriously, i wanna thank God for the strength, which somehow kept me going all the way till i reached home safely. The moment i landed home, i took a quick shower, checked emails and chatted awhile before heading for my comfortable bed.

Guess i was really drained that i slept through till 12pm the following day!

Really life is so unpredictable, but i shall trust.

Going to be a tough journey ahead, doing different tests wondering how i am going to handle this. But I shall trust.

Seriously some people simply test your patience by being unreasonable. I met one recently and it was ultimate to the core. Wah, i was quite amazed by the way i kept my cool and wonder how on earth did i manage that.

How come people can be so unreasonable ah?

Unreasonable + selfish leh, really cannot take it. They never think for the feelings and position of the other party meh, just blurted out the accusations like that. Oh Lord, thank you for keeping my cool, for not reacting. I will never want to be unreasonable. It's terrible :S

A Moody Week

This is a moody week.

Bad cough+flu=no mood

Just could not bring myself to do stuff.

Even when i was invited to share at the cell group, i didn't do anything till that afternoon to chiong for sharing stuff. What is happening to me? Keep falling sick. Recover oredi then down again then recover then down again. It is a cycle of sickness, so very ultimate super sian and moody.

Worst of all, cannot show my moodiness, so got to put a smile and push myself to respond to people. Not that i don't want to do it, but i simply have no mood.

But i am sure things will be better in the weeks to come :D

Mr flu bug is back.

He is here to visit me today and decided to stay.

Sneezed and sneezed..counting the tissue paper..

Not sure if it's the office environment, but according to the staff, the air ventilator is supposed to purify and cleanse the place. Hmm, seems that it is not so true as a few of us are down with flu. Maybe i lack of rest lah. Chiong back home immediately and took an early dinner before taking the standard small yellow tablet. Medication took effect and i decided to go to bed at 930pm!!

Talents and Creativity

Nowadays people are so talented and creative.

Just watched 2 youtube videos on people using their vocals to make sound of instruments, sing acapella then harmonize.

All done by one person.

I am seriously impressed.

Deep within, i am thankful for such talents and creativity. What seems impossible in the past, it is happening today.

Someone asked me why i stop worship leading.

I paused for a moment and said "time for others to do it".

Somehow deep within, i do miss leading.

But i know God has shifted me to do other things instead.

Anyway, i thank God for the years of worship leading. It has taught me to be more sensitive and dependent on the Holy Spirit.

Hey don't let your talent be hidden away, but use it.

God will multiply it as He is the Giver of talents to those who love him.

Flower Festival 2011

Went to the flower festival 2011 at Sentosa in the morning.

Thank God it was not crowded and we could enjoy viewing the flowers and busy taking pics. A wonderful fellowship with pris and unis walking around and having lunch together, before i headed to the bbq and unis to her dinner leaving pris behind to continue her evening walk.

I miss going out with my godchildren.

They have been asking and pestering when, where, when, where as they sort of miss their godma and gor gor reuben.

This evening when i dropped by their place before heading to cell, one particular conversation with them made my heart melt.

me: gaius, no as we will be going to the bbq.

chloe: then godma we don't go bbq lah. you bring us out.

me: haha chloe, cannot lah. must go to the bbq one.

gaius: godma, we can go to bbq then go out lah.

Summarised my 2 days of events.

Red blood: fell down and injured my knee cap. Blood oozed out, so painful but thank God for a friend who attended to me immediately.

Red blouse: supposed to wear red this sun, but i think I DON'T HAVE ANY RED BLOUSE!! Oh mine, don't tell me i have to go and get it? Ok, went to the wardrobe and never tried so hard to search for a red blouse. Just when i was about to give up, suddenly there it is-a red blouse! Thank God for that blouse.

Red pimple: sad sad as it decided to make its presence known between the nose and mouth. Supposed due to heatiness and the new year goodies, but then i drank lots of water leh. Haha but thank God lah, at least only one. If not, can faint.

Last but not least, thank God for good sleep in the last 2 days due to the high fever. Cannot fall sick, as got upcoming BBQ over the weekend (yeah can see my godchildren again). Lord, i claim your healing :D

Worried

I am worried for my nieces esp the older one.

Because of their family background, her english is real bad. I am dead worried for her as i fear she cannot catch up with the rest. I have been bugging the mother to find a private tutor for her, as i can see she is super stressed at such a young age and i want her to enjoy her growing up years. Thank God for answering my prayer when she managed to find a tutor, who will be starting tuition this coming week. Lord, please help my little niece.

Cutting & Marinating

Went shopping for the steamboat food.

Put the stuff back into the fridge then headed to Pris's place.

Travelled back to my place to get the car.

Ate our late dinner before we started to marinate the food.

Haha quite fun to do it together with unis.

She cut most of the meat, while i did the marinating with oyster sauce, honey and pepper. We separated out different meats with different marination. The interesting thing is we labelled them accordingly to the marinated sauce. Haha first time doing that for steamboat.

Guess what, it took us almost 2 hours to get everything done. Haha hopefully we did not make a mess in auntie doris's kitchen and the fridge. Very fun to try cutting the frosted meats, exploring the marination with the sauces, then rearranging the fridge to store the added stuff.

Good teamwork unis :D

Holidays Are Nice

Holidays are nice.

Nice because could meet up with relatives and friends.

Nice because could sleep and wake up real late.

Nice because could slack and enjoy for awhile.

Oh oh but i would have to pia after the holidays.

Need to prepare 2 sermons (not sure if to share the same message on staff devotion and english service 1 or 2 different ones).

Got some ideas already, so Lord grant me inspiration, innovation and intelligence.

Catch Up

A good catch up with my cousins and aunties from dad's side.

Sometimes it's sad that we can only really do so during the CNY, but the reality is everyone has their own commitment and time. At least better than nothing :DI am so happy to see my 93 years old granny kicking strong and healthy, though her memory is faltering by mistaking me of her another grand daughter. I love her so much as she is the one who took care of me from 2 to 7 years old. I told myself that i must visit her more often, since don't know how long she will be around. Lord, keep her strong and show me the ways to share your love to her.

Wow another cousin will be getting married.

That is cool and i am happy for him.

Also received another thrilling news but can't reveal much here. Will share more upon confirmation. I'm really excited and pray that it would come true.

People said CNY is a time of catching up and eating those can-get-you-fat-easily goodies. To me, CNY is a time of catching up too but siaming those goodies.

Haha already fat enough, so don't wish to put on more kg.

How i wish i am like those JLB (jia liao bee) that no matter how much i eat, just won't go fat. Haha but i know it's IMPOSSIBLE!

I feel good when i woke up this morning because it was nice to sleep under a nice and cool rainy day. But i won't feel that good if i go to work tomorrow with the same kind of weather like this morning's super uber heavy downpour.

Nevertheless I thank God for a car, so that i won't get that drench or squeeze with people on the public transport.

Lord, i believe that after every rain, there is a rainbow.

After every situation, there is a hope.

All these spell the reality that you are there.

You create the rain and show the rainbow.

You permit the situation and give the hope.

I am sure in the midst of every rain and situation, you work all things good for those who trust in you.

I thank you for being my God.

I thank you for being there.

Sick Again

I am falling sick again. This irritating fever :(

M not sure if it's because of the rain, but i hope i would get better by tomorrow as i will be the service pastor at english service 1.

Somehow i wonder, since this rain has been pouring for the last 3 days, is any part of Singapore flooded? The last time round was orchard, now leh?

Haha don't care lah, as long as my house area not flooded can liao (sound selfish hor). Ok phase again, as long as everywhere is not flooded can liao (sound better right). Hope people will not use rain as an excuse not to come church too.

Oh i started doing the first scrap booking card for someone.

Alone at the airport, so entertained myself by taking lomo pics, listening to music, watching video, facebooking online and observing people.

Wow saw some korean guys who are quite handsome and fair looking. Nice things are meant to appreciate at, so i think it is ok to admire them for awhile.

Look at the clouds. Makes you seem like floating on them and that song came "i will soar with you above the storms (clouds)". And i started to hum the tune on the plane knowing that He is in control even when things may not flow well.

While waiting for mercy at the lobby, i saw the owner of the hotel. Wow, though he is a boss, his humility impressed me. When the security guard opened the door for him, he tapped on his shoulder and said "Have a great day and thank you!" Subsequently, the boss walked to the reception to give instructions, then the phone rang. Seeing his staff busy, he did not hesitate but picked up the phone. He also did not reprimand his staff for not answering the call. Somehow i am quite sure that this man has gained the respect from his staff, who does not care about his position but do what he needs to do at the moment instead of ordering them to do it.

He set the example of humility, where it doesn't matter whether you are the boss or employee, you just serve. He has gained the respect of others, where it has to be earned by setting the example of humility. You want respect? Be humble then.

Lesson 1: When you exhibit humility, you gain respect.

Lesson 2: When you build friendship that has Christ in common, you find treasure.

I thank God for friends here in iloilo and back in spore.

Your friendships have made a difference.

All of you are treasures in my life.

We cannot be always together, but prayers can.

So i am right here praying for you as much as i can.

I will continue to build this treasure where rot and dust cannot destroy it but

last eternally. Truly friends are friends forever, if the Lord is Lord of them :D

Going Back

Going back to iloilo today.

Can't bear to leave serene but 天下有不散之宴席.

But i did have a good time with her.

It's short but qualitative and sweet.

Come to think of it, it is so amazing.

When we were back in spore, we don't interact much.

But right here in bago, we could talk so much.

I will miss her, but i thank God for internet, thank God for technology that keeps us contactable and connectable.

Hey girl, you are loved not only by the King of kings and Lord of lords, but also your sis here. I will keep you in prayers :D

It's warming to see friends meeting you at the other side of the pier when you are all by yourself. If i align it, it's really warming to see Jesus waiting to meet me at the other side when you are facing life all by yourself. Surely His rod and staff are with us. He will comfort and strengthen for He is with us.

I have a wonderful day on this beautiful sunday.
First..

Preached at ps joe's church on "rejoice in the Lord always" and i thank God for the timely message to the people. I enjoyed the whole process of preaching, as really sensed the anointing and the spiritual hunger of the congregation. He deserves all glory :D

Second..Spent time with serene. WE HAVE A GOOD TIME TOGETHER by having yellow cab pizza lunch, talking anything under the sun, buying the scrapbooking materials and watching movie. I am so glad that i can be here in this season to know this dear sis, whom i am impressed by her willingness and sacrifice :D Keep up the good work, sis! You are not alone.

Really felt so good and fulfilled today. God answers prayers by speaking, moving and empowering. Thank you so much God :D

Feeding Program

Upon arrival, we took 3 ways of transport to reach the purplish mission house.

After getting familiar with its facilities and the team, we played MD before heading off to the feeding program. MD has indeed become an international game of interaction and fellowship.

After that, we had our lunch together. It was simple meal, yet it was yummy :D

It has been awhile since i last went to a feeding program.

Thank God for the opportunity when the Bago team adjusted its timing to afternoon, so that i could join in the ministry.

Conclusion: these kids are definitely more sporting and fun-loving than ours back home. Probably it's their environment, where they simply be wild and followed what the leader said. Children should behave as children to demonstrate their innocence, child-likeness and playfulness, but somehow ours have lost that essence. But well, God can still move across cultures, people and environment.

He speaks. He moves. He empowers.

Lord continue to use the feeding program as the channel of connection and evangelism for the Bago team, so that a church may be established in your time.

In your time, you make all things beautiful, so let your kingdom come upon the Sampinit baranguy.

Completed my whole week of teaching at BTI.

Took many many many photos with the students.

Haha they are so enthu in taking pics by making funny faces, doing different postures and disturbing their teacher. So much fun. Ohhh i am gonna miss you all :D

Come to think of it, this is my 3rd time teaching here (except the 1st batch-can't rem why i didn't come over) and i have learnt alot. Lord, more to come please.

Completed my stay in BCC.

Have been staying here for the whole week.

Haha it was great to stay here as there are many wonderful and fun-loving friends who took good care of me. Thank God for annalyn, mercy, jesse, jj, james and of cos my god daughter ella!!

Fireworks

One of the most exciting things that i experienced in this trip was:

TO SEE LIVE FIREWORKS AND THERE WERE 7 OF THEM!
It was really great to participate in the dinagyang festival and the fireworks were part of it. I am even more thrilled when i took live video on them.
It was such an awesome experience to stand under these beautiful live fireworks.
Though it was a competition, but who cares right?
Though it was raining, but who cares right?
Everyone was immersed and did not bear to leave the scene.
Somehow i was amazed at how man can be that creative to brighten the dark sky with beautiful colours and patterns.
Somehow i thank God for the given creativitiy and talent.

Fresh in the morning after a good sleep.

Went for a good complimentary breakfast before heading back to the room, praying and preparing myself for the whole week of teaching.

As i sat in the quiet room, i sensed His sweet presence.

He is like the honey in the rock, making me feel loved and comforted that i am not alone. He is with me :D

In the middle of praying, I saw fire burning, people screaming, dark patches remaining. I wondered what that meant.

God then reminded me the story of Elijah and the prophets of baal.

When fire came down and consumed the sacrifices offered by Elijah instead of baal, the prophets screamed in fear. God is that fire where He burns away all impurities, worldly pleasures and ungodly desires. We scream as He takes away those things that are "dear" to us, that consume us. The dark patches speak of the remains of the impurities, confirming that He loves us to remove whatever that is not of Him.

Thank you for speaking on the second day.

I am looking forward for more, God.

An Amazing Ride

16 Jan - heading to iloilo philippines for my "don't-know-how-many-times" trip :D
From hougang home to changi airport. Thank you bro for sending me there in my beloved "bf".
From changi airport to the waiting room. Guess what? i saw very nice flowers inside the terminal, which i never bothered to take notice in the past. Somehow travelling alone makes a difference. You bother to see the "insignificant".

The usual stuff began. Put on seat belt, keep the table stow, pull up the window slide, watch the safety video and then the journey began!
In less than 15 mins, TURBULENCE!!
Wow, that is way too fast but it did. The roller coaster ride was indeed SCARY, making my heart beat even faster. Was my medication with me? Instantly searched for it and was relieved that i put it in the right bag, not in the luggage. Ok was hoping the turbulence would stop and it did. Baby stopped crying, people started to walk around, then announcement came "we will be passing thru another turbulence area, so please return to your seat and tighten your seat belt." Not again!?! I prayed and prayed, singing songs and speaking in tongues. In less than 5 mins, the turbulences ended. Whew!

Everyone was happy. Meal served. Stomach satisfied.
Better go toilet first, in case another episode of roller coaster ride starts again. True enough, IT REALLY STARTED AGAIN!!
What an amazing ride to manila. I am sure the passengers wish that the plane would arrive there very super duper soon. ME TOO!
Thank God the plane touched down safely. Everyone clapped :D
A song rang in my heart "When the oceans rise and thunders roar, i will soar with you above the storm. Father you are King over the flood (turbulence), i will be still and know You're God."

Looking Forward

I am leaving for philippines again.

This time, my feel is different.

There is this deep hunger for more of God's presence.

There is this spiritual yearn for more of His direction.

I am looking forward. God, speak :D

i thank God that i pushed back the day of travel to 16.

1. i made it on time to attend the funeral of one of my member's mother, who passed away suddenly. I am thankful that i was there to support.

2. i was able to attend my lovely god daughter's baby shower, who proves to be another beauty of the low family. I am thankful that i was there to take lots of pictures.

I better get back to my packing.

Tomorrow by this time, i will be at iloilo grand dame hotel :D

People Change

Diabetes

My mum's genealogy has its rich history and she is a patient too.

Thank God for my SIL, who brought the tester and guided her to use it to monitor on the level by herself. She is now at no 9, which is considered as manageable. Once it shoots up to 10, she has to seek hospital treatment. From now onwards, i have to watch her diet and medication.

I did the check and i am at no 6. This is at controllable range, but i cannot take it for granted. My SIL reminded to check my diabetes level constantly, as i have a high risk of contraction. Oh mine! What is happening?

Ok that means from less sugar to NO sugar.

Oh there goes my kopi siew dai to kopi kosong.

Haha hope i can get used to the "new" change.

Rainy

Today rains super long..since early morning till now! But it is shiok to have the coolness for the whole day and no need to even turn on the fan. A lazy afternoon, yet i was at orchard shopping. To make my trip worthwhile, i brought myself a good pillow and did not need to pay anything for it by redeeming my credit card points. Haha tonight this little head of mine will have a new pillow to rest on and the owner will also have better sleep :D

A small episode happened but a great lesson to learn.

Someone knocked at the door and i opened to see an elderly lady standing there. When she said she wanted to use the toilet, my instant human guard responded to her "who are you?" She claimed to be my neighbor, but i never saw her before.

Then she explained that she was locked out and could not get into the house. Suddenly something checked on me "Elaine you are too cautious! What can she do to you? Rob you? Be a lighthouse!" I knew it!

There are needs and needy people.

But due to our human instinct and guard, we turn them away.

If we could meet those needs, why not?

If God allows them to cross our path, he knows we can.

In fact, no effort is even required yet we can put a smile on someone's face and even on us.

I thank the Holy Spirit for teaching me a precious lesson on this rainy afternoon.

I Wonder

After blogging for so long (i think almost 2 years), i wonder if anyone still reads my blog. Many times i just wonder if i should continue or might as well stop writing. I also wonder if anyone still blogs, since it takes a lot of effort to pen down and blog every now and then. It's a genuine wonder.

Can anyone solve this wonder?

Another wonder is: do people still pursue their dreams or fit into the mould what life expects or pushes them to do?

Recently saw this talent show, where the man went all the way out to create this peacock which will light up with different colours. His purpose is to cheer his immobile wife, whom he has spent the last 20 years with. He wants to see his wife smile. What a simple dream but yet he makes it possible.

Then another couple made their dream come true by performing a dance. Of cos that sounds normal, but the man is without one limp while the lady is without one hand.

It's the spirit of refusing to be moulded into life or disabilities that make dreams come true.

Can anyone solve this wonder?

Well..that is life. Full of wonders!

Yet we have the God of wonders, who never fails to amaze us!

Work on Sat?

Ya you are right. I was right there in the quiet office.

Somehow i love it because of the silence and the quietness.

Somehow no one "disturbed" you and you can finish the unfinished work. I could get a couple of things done like writing the feb birthdae cards, finalising the powerpoint slides, cleaning the table and cabinet.

One added bonus: the BCM team was around the vicinity so i could chit chat with some during lunch and post lunch time. Very good feeling to catch up :D

Finally 5pm. Set off to meet my godchildren as i won't be able to go out with them for the next 2 weeks due to the trip.

Thanks to wilson, QY, arnold, chan, van, chris and ant, where we had a good time together dinnering and brisk walking.

They not only played with the kids WILDLY, but also made the sat a hooray day :D

One Week

Yeah its a reality. It's the seventh day.
Have you done anything so far? Or just blur blur went through it?
Some may be facing tremendous testings.
Some may be having mounds of questions.
Some may be making critical decisions.
Some may be treading on the crossroads.
Whatever that may be, God is on your side.
You got to have the David-fighting-goliath spirit, where you can battle against the uncertainty, pain and fear.

Stir that fighting spirit in you.
Like the Korean's slogan, "fighting!"

Hmm..it has been a wonderful week for me.

Encourage someone (hope you will overcome it soon)
Complete teaching slides (satisfied and now for sermon)
