SHOES

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him
Who brings good news, good news
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness
Our God reigns, our God reigns!

I was packing my shoe rack, didn't realise that i have so many pairs of shoes. How on earth can i finish wearing them, when i only have one pair of feet? Haha..so from now onwards, NO MORE BUYING OF SHOES!
Oh..but my favourite item to look at during shopping is SHOES! Haha..SIAM!
Cannot buy shoes, then sing the above song lor..sound spiritual hor?
Then i also 发现 can't really wear heels nowadays. Used to wear for half a day & don't feel the strain yet. But now i can feel the strain for less than 3 hours..haiz sign of old age?

Just realise that ever since the GSS started in end of May, i haven't even brought a single item at all till now :) Haha..not even small items like ear rings or my favourite item shoes. It's not that i didn't shop, but there is simply no
desire to buy or even look at the stuff. Not bad not bad..erm then how come my savings are still quite low?

Anyone has problem in your savings?

Haha..just thought of this:
Simply
Honour
Obey
Exalt
Shine

Unappreciative

Have you gone through that kind of feeling when people simply not appreciative towards you, even if you did your best?

Haiz..i have gone through such feelings couple of times, but it always take me ages to overcome it whenever it happens.
Today, this feeling happened again :(
Just felt deep inside "What have i done to deserve this? By asking for a simple favour & yet receiving sarcastic remarks? Maybe i shouldn't have bothered? Maybe i shouldn't have cared too much?"

Yet God is still faithful & knows exactly what is going on. The sooner i felt about this, He tapped on the lecturer by saying these 4 strong words "Just do your part!" towards the end of the class. I am seriously thankful to God :)
At least, i know He appreciates me as long as i just do my part.

Whenever you feel unappreciative by people, take heed that God does :)
Just do your part!

Out in the Sun

Haha..i am sure most of you have gone to Marina Barrage but not for us :)
Though it was super duper hot, it was good..goody..goodiest!
(note: we even saw the actress evelyn tan there..she is pregnant with her 3rd child & she is really cheo)

MJ

Always impressed by his dance steps especially the legend moonwalking.
News came too sudden, but after many unexpected turns in life, things just happen.
His death shook the whole world..
His life suddened many hearts..
Where is the hope?
Not sure if he will be there in heaven, but may he rest in peace!
At least he does not need to suffer from sickness, loneliness & struggles anymore.
He is "free" physically.

Think about Jesus Christ:

His death shook the whole world..
His life moved many hearts..
The hope is found in Him!
He is there in heaven to prepare a place for you & me, he is enjoying the angelic adoration & worship! There will be no more sickness, loneliness & struggles anymore.
We will be free totally.

What the world cannot give, God can give.
Think about it, my friend :)

Totally Immersed

This morning, i shared my stressness. God knows!
He comforted me with this song "All the Heavens" & i was totally immersed in lifting up His name through this powerful song. It was awesome when God speaks!

All the Heavens
Holy holy are You Lord
The whole earth is filled with Your glory
Let the nations rise to give
Honour and praise to Your name
Let Your face shine on us
And the world will know You live
All the heavens shout Your praise
Beautiful is our God
The universe will sing
Hallelujah to You our King

Triple Stresses

STRESSED! STRESSED! STRESSED!

Haha..you can imagine how stressed i am with the bold red words. Well, i tell myself "elaine chua 加油吧!" It has been a long while that i am stressed over schoolwork. REALLY! SCHOOLWORK!
Oh God, i need your wisdom in doing this Systematic Theology II assignment. Haha because i am seeing stars, moon & sun already :)

I SHALL PRESS ON!
Strength will rise as i wait upon the Lord.

Somewhere over the Rainbow

Happened to tune on the radio & heard this 1939 classic "Somewhere over the rainbow" that was popularised by the classic movie "Wizard of Oz". This really brought back memories :)

When i was in secondary school, NPCC camp, then we were supposed to perform something. Then don-know-which-smart-alex suggested doing the Wizard of Oz & guess what..i was arrowed to sing this song by the character Dorothy. Haha..i nearly freaked out. How can i sing this song? Haiz..since i was one of the sergents, so bo bian lor..must set example. Aiya, nevermind, just 豁出去 & perform the item.
Now i looked back, it was a sweet memory. At least, i have fun. At least, i did sing or at least i did entertain my crowd. Too bad, those days no digital camera & don't know where i stuffed the old photos. Else i can post up here..or maybe not. Haha scarly all of you faint when you look at my old picture - the tutu elaine :)
Well, no photos then give you lyrics of the song.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds flyBeyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Mr Brain

Recently, i am watching this show "Mr Brain" starred by my favourite Jap actor, Ayase Haruka 木村拓哉. If i'm not wrong, this thriller snatched the highest viewership once it was released in May.
My usual preference is detective or mystery shows, where the plot will lead you to find clues to solve the puzzle. No difference from this one, but it is interesting to use BRAIN & its capabilities to solve cases. That is how this one fist size brain can perform its power. Amazing!

Description of the show:
Tsukumo Ryusuke is neuroscientist working for the National Research Institute of Police Science (part of the National Police Agency). He is generally incapable of reading the atmosphere of a situation, but when it comes to science, he is well respected. Whenever something catches his interest, he thoroughly sticks to it and never gives up, chasing down the criminals with certainty.

If you like such types, i recommend you to watch Mr Brain. Haha..because the lead actor is cool & charming. Erm..come to think of it, i like his charisma more than anything else. Haha..i am not those that just base on looks ok? i got taste one :)

Colours

Just imagine this world is without colours..
Imagine that the apple is not red & orange is not orange, but black or white? eeeee...
Imagine that the sky is not blue, but black or white? ehhh..actually can imagine. Black = night; white = day
Imagine that the rainbow is not in its 7 colours, but black or white? eeeee...

Haha..why i talk about colours? Because today i went for pedicure & the beautician coloured my colourless toes with reddish paint. Made my little toes look nicer & brighter, i see already also happy :) So i concluded that colours do us good.

If there are colours, that means God is also a colourful God.
If He is a colourful God, that means God is beautiful.
If He is a beautiful God, that means God will adorn us with His beauty.
Let's appreciate the beauty of God's colourful creation, because He makes all things beautiful in His time :)

Little note: Treasure your eyes while you can see & appreciate the colours of the creation

Father's Day

Today is Father's Day. I wanna thank God for my dad, who may not be the perfect dad, but he is surely the one whom i respect & appreciate.
爸,谢谢您!

Life Lessons
You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The (woman)(man) I am today;
You built a strong foundation,
No one can take away.
I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

Driving

How many of you, who drives, love to drive?

I remembered when i passed my driving 10 years ago, it was God's birthday gift for me! How many of you remember that when you go through the driving test, the presence & face of that driving tester somehow nerved you up. Somehow, the initial full confidence & numerous practices seem to go down the drain. That was what happened to me & i was literally shivering in his presence. Goes without saying, i failed the first test (total deduction points: 32, not that bad lah).

Then when the second one came, i prayed & asked God for peace. Haha..then i plucked up the courage to ask Him if He can give me this license as His birthday gift for me because my test date was 4 Nov & birthday is on 1 Nov. Well, from the above, you know what happened: God really gave His birthday gift to me!
TQ Daddy :)

Ever since i got that license & my first car (blue toyota corolla) after 3 years later, i have been enjoying driving. Some find it stressful, but not for me. It has helped me to become more sharper & observant in things around me, such as watching out for blind spots, looking out for "fragile" vehicles like motorcycles & bicycles & "humongous" vehicles like trucks & lorries. Though driving can be stressful esp in jams & accidents, i guess it is part of the driving process. Just as in life, at times can be enjoyable, but at times can be struggling too. This is life, so what's new?

I love to drive..haha maybe should put this down as part of my interest?

Quiet

It is good to be quiet at times, not just in terms of speech, but also in your daily activities & routines. This week is a quiet one. Besides sharing at the Stretch camp, i seemed to be rather relaxing though at the back of my mind i am still thinking on my written assignment.
I enjoyed the quietness as i could sort out my thoughts & plan my time.

Thank God for helping me to finish my article review & i took quite awhile to get it done. Mind you, it's just 10%. Can't imagine when i start my 50% assignment, probably take ages to finish which i cannot afford to do so. My nexxxxxxt huddle is THE ASSIGNMENT + EXAMS, so next 3 weeks will be a pressurising one, but at least this week is a quiet one to take a breather. Whew!!

Also thank God that i managed to visit one family, whom i didn't manage to due to recent happenings + busyness. Enjoyed the fellowship & catch up with the couple, which is one of my few satisfying things this week.

Finally thank God for the quietness. "Be still and know that He is God" is such a powerful truth that i want more of it now.

Hey friends, are you too busy to be quiet?
Probably, it's time to slow down & readjust yourself to be quiet.
In quietness, find rest!
In quietness, find strength!
In quietness, find peace!

Nice to Be with Him

Somehow i have this opportunity to fetch my godson from his art class at PP on this sat morning :) I enjoyed my time with him, at least only 2 of us! Haha..really love him alot especially now he can converse & talk like a small adult.

Haha..not sure if you know this song but it just came when me & kaiwen were talking about little einstein (his favourite cartoon character at the moment, in case you don't know what's that, look at those cartoons behind him). The song is "Song from Heaven" & don't ask me how this is linked to little einstein. Somehow, somewhere this is the interesting thing about our little brain. Here it goes:
This is a song from heaven
The angels sing
Worthy is the Lamb that was slain
(repeat)
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
The Lamb that was slain
(repeat)

The best part of this song comes when it raises key. If you have not heard it, highly recommend. You can ask me for the song :)
Have fun over the weekend.

A Surprise

11 June, a normal Thursday like any other day, but then it is a different day for someone.
Haha..yes! Mr Reuben Foo will be enlisted into army TODAY!!

The day before, with the last class of Stretch Program ended, wanted to bring botak to church so that reuben can spend the night with him (i told reuben that most likely botak can't be there to send him off the next day). By 8pm, mrs low sms that botak was SLEEPING! Win liao lor..while holding back the disappointment during cell meeting, at 820pm mrs low told me that botak WOKE UP! Haha, botak you really cooperated with godma.
Tell you one secret: When botak is listless, get him to the playground & he will instanteously be awaken. The magic is at the playground! That's what we did before fetching him home while reuben continued his night with the Youth MM for late night supper.

11 June 8am executed my surprise plan by fetching botak. He was waiting for me right at the door & he was so lively at 8am.
830am met jake at mac for breakfast & HE WAS LATE! Haha..jake you are forgiven & where is my mac breakfast?
855am proceeded to the interchange. Guess what? We just stepped out of the shopping centre & reuben was standing right in front of us. Wah..my plan really spoilt lor when botak was meant to surprise him. Anyway, i can tell that he was touched to see his little boy there.

Final note:
When reuben was about to set off,
Botak said "i want to follow you to take plane".
Reuben said "you cannot follow me".
Botak said "Ok, then next time i take plane to visit you ok?"
How can you not love this boy right? Now you understand why reuben dotes him alot :)

Loving

Recently, there is a newspaper article that commented "Couples who are married for 10 years and above, are prone to file for divorce or separation." I am not sure if this is the current trend in Singapore, but i have seen such loving couples around me.

I believe in the Christian circle, we can still build strong marriages, though it is said that Christian divorce rate is the second highest. Everything we do should be centred in CHRIST including marriage. When that happens, all things will fall into place (that includes quarrels, fights & taking-each-other-for-granted etc). In fact, as one grows with each other, the degree of love & acceptance deepens & matures. That goes the same to our relationship with our greatest Lover. The more you rub with Him, the more intense of love & closeness you will have for Him.

Hamsters 080609

The kids have been pestering me "Godma, when are we going to auntie doris's house to see the hamsters?" Haha..i salute their persistency, so on this very day, i decided to bring them there since they have fully recovered from their sickness in the last 2 weeks. Since it's auntie doris's off day & i tell you, she really loves the kids, so we brought them out for lunch. Haha..at least have longer time with her & make her off day happy :)
So this was our itinerary:
  • 12.30pm-lunch at hougang mall (erm..Gab didn't manage to eat his cucumber rice because uncle doesn't have cucumber in his chicken rice stall..how strange is that!! Haha..later auntie doris discovered it is the wrong stall!!!)

  • 2.00pm-auntie doris brought stickers for the kids, while i went to buy french fries.

  • 2.20pm-reached auntie doris's place & of course the kids "cheong" for the hamsters. That's what they came here for!!

  • 3.20pm-3 started to ask "where is kor kor reuben?" Haha..then gaius said "i don't like kor kor reuben because he is not at home to play with me!" How cute can he be?

  • 3.30pm-3 went back to feed the hamsters. Haha..think they are overfed liao..

  • 3.45pm-3 went haywire when they saw their kor kor reuben back & poor panda (never slept till 6am) has to play with them. Haha..i think he is more glad to play with them than sleep.

  • 4.45pm-went to the playground where flower girl stuck to the swing, gab & gaius played with the swinging bridge.

The day ended happily for all of us & the kids really enjoyed themselves. More so for auntie doris, who received their kisses & hugs before they went home for their dinners.

Poor me..have to go for class but well..sweet memories stay :)
